    ORIGIANL VINTAGE APOLLO 11 "WELCOME TO CHICAGO" 28" X 22" CARDBOARD SIGN
    FRAMED & READY TO HANG.
    Used all along the parade route in downtown Chicago on August 13, 1969 TICKER TAPE PARADE
    These signs from the Chicago parade were posted on all the street-light poles to commemorate the visit of the Apollo 11 Astronauts to the Windy City. Sign is printed in 4-color and measures 28" wide x 22" high . Made of heavy un-corrugated cardboard. Some adventurous person removed this sign from the pole as a souvenir of the event. This estate-sale find has been in storage for over 40 years!
    Made by Crescent Quality Boards Charles T. Ozmun founded the Chicago Matboard Company in 1902, centering on hand-mounting theatre posters. The company expanded as art boards came into demand in a variety of industries. In the 1950s, the company became Crescent because colored mat board samples were often cut in the shape of Crescent moons.
