1.25". No maker. Spring pin originally held ribbon w/4" whisk broom attachment. Ribbon remains but is frayed and detached. Button has simple design, including "Oct. 1911" date and was issued in hopes of a 4-0 victory for the A's over the New York Giants. While the A's did win the series, it took six games. Philadelphia third baseman Frank "Home Run" Baker earned his nickname during this series. His home run in Game 2 off Rube Marquard was the margin of victory for the Athletics, and his blast in Game 3 off Christy Mathewson tied that game in the ninth inning, and the Athletics eventually won in the 11th. The Giants never recovered. Button has lt. surface wear seen upon magnification. Appearance remains clean and glossy. VF. Broom is structurally sound and Exc. A unique baseball button. Paul Muchinsky Collection.
