Description
These are 17 pieces of authentic Tiffany Studios (or Tiffany Furnaces, to be exact) glass that came from the 2013 excavation at the site of Louis Comfort Tiffany's studios,on the corner of Main Street and Irving Place (now 43rd Avenue and 97th Place, Corona, Queens, NY ), upon which was built PS110, The Tiffany School. These still have residual soil on them and can have residual mineral deposits. They had been buried in the ground for at least 81 years; they may have hairline cracks within, marks, pitting, iridescence, etc
Just some wonderful glass in this auction.
The horizontal, rectangular "mauve" piece has a mix, of green / khaki / mauve / amber. This piece, when backlit, goes more toward a red color - see photo. One side has subtle pebbling to its surface.
In the lead photo, the top middle piece (featured between the digits 4 and 7 along the blue ruler) reminds me of Tiffany's aquamarine glass - murky with darker areas of mottling in this case - a little bit of a larger air bubble within - one side has that green / gold more shimmering texture to it.
Within this lot are some pieces that have seaweed green and yellow coloring with a more translucent base.
Some pieces have some nice white milk glass; there are also some nice opaque pieces.
A couple of pieces are quite thick (in comparison to the other examples I have had) and have nice layers, as can be seen on the sides of the pieces.
In the lead photo, the top left pieces has a scratch of a line on one side - the other side has an old scribe ? line on it (done when it was manufactured).
They have sharp edges; small chips at the edges, mineral residue on some surfaces, surface breaks are mostly at the edges.
Sold as is, no returns.
