Description
These are 17 pieces of authentic Tiffany Studios glass that came from the 2013 excavation at the site of Louis Comfort Tiffany's studios,on the corner of Main Street and Irving Place (now 43rd Avenue and 97th Place, Corona, Queens, NY ), upon which was built PS110, The Tiffany School. These still have residual soil on them and can have residual mineral deposits. They had been buried in the ground for at least 81 years; they may have hairline cracks within, marks, pitting, iridescence, etc
Just some wonderful glass in this auction.
In the lead photo:
The top left piece has some nice green luminescence along with mottling. It does have a spot of mineral deposit and one circle of a break within it.
The square amber / yellow piece to the right of that reminds me of clearer aquamarine glass as it has slight murky/yellow coloring to it, hazing and one side of it has what I perceive as a shimmering light gold color - this very fine texture is quite a bit finer than sugar granules. The hazing seems to be INSIDE the piece of glass, not on its surface. This piece has surface breaks along its edges.
The bottom larger white piece has an area of light amber; nice mottling to it and hazing. It does have an area of mineral deposit (toward the top tip).
In the lead photo, top row, 3rd in from the left - the thinner horizontal piece has some darker areas that seem to be a mix of dark green and purple, leaving some areas to appear to be heading toward black, while having some milky opal areas mixed in - BUT seems to be dichroic, as it appears to differenct coloring when held to the light. In the 5th photo, this piece is in the center.
3 other pieces have seaweed green and yellow coloring,
while one of these pieces has that VERY fine granular shimmery surface - (in the lead photo) bottom row, this is the most left piece - (when looking at the larger white piece, this is at the 7:00 7 o'clock position to the white piece).
In the lead photo, the piece in the top row, far right - this has some beautiful green luminescence with some amber colored areas mixed in, when held to the light.
They have sharp edges; chips at the edges, mineral residue on some surfaces; surface breaks are mostly at the edges.
Sold as is, no returns.
